Our History

The birth of Karadant

Our story is as unique as the Karadant we sell! It all began in the early 1900s in Amingad, a town in Bagalkot district. Our founder, Shri Rachappa Aiholli and his associates used to visit the gymnasium (“Garadimani”) regularly for body-building and exercise. They would consume nuts and high energy foods such as cashew nut and almonds to get adequate amounts of protein and energy.

Our Story

About Karadant

It wasn’t long before a thought occurred to our resourceful founder. He had an idea to combine the high energy foods with edible gum (“Halige antu”) to make a delicious sweet called ‘Halige antu.” It was later named as “Karadant’ by Late Shri Savaligeppa Aiholli, who also was the first to introduce sugar-based Karadant in 1907 – a novelty at that time.

Our Approach

The small family-owned venture has now grown into a successful business, providing employment to hundreds of people.

From the days where about 15 kilograms of Karadant were manufactured every day with manual processes, our company has come a long way.

Modern automated methods are used to make more than 150 kilograms of Karadant each hour. The fact that we sell over 500 kilograms of Karadant each day proves how popular our Karadant is now!
